Wranglers can upgrade equipment as they advance in the game. All equipment costs different gold amounts. Below please find descriptions of the different equipment that you may purchase on Fish Wrangler.
Poles - You need a fishing pole in order to fish. Beginner wranglers start with the most basic pole and will have the opportunity to upgrade their pole as they advance in the game. Upgraded equipment allows you to catch more rewarding fish.
Chum - The purpose of Chum is to attract fish to your line. Chumming the water is necessary before each cast. Particular types of chum may improve you success at catching certain fish.
Chum loss occurs you go fishing and do not catch anything, and you have to recollect your chum. Some chums are easier to retain than others. For example, Loaf Chum gets soggy and is not easy to retain.
Skills - As a beginner wrangler, you arrive in Farovia with little to no experience in fishing, so learning each skill is necessary to become a successful wrangler. Each skill is a course which you must purchase for different amount of gold. Each skill works in a cumulative fashion and cannot be returned. Most skills have pre-requisites that you must meet before purchasing.
Boats - You must own a boat in order to travel to different islands. The Beat-Up Dingy is available to wranglers over 15,000 points and the Mini Cruiser is available for wranglers over 150,000 points. The main difference between the boats is in speed and durability.
Your point value is an overall score that continues to increase as you advance in the game.
You collect points from catching fish. You must obtain certain point levels before traveling to
other locations, purchasing particular equipment, and advancing to the next angler class.
Gold is the local currency within the Farovian Villages. You will receive gold by joining the application,
catching fish, and finding treasure chests. Gold can be used towards buying equipment and traveling to other locations.
You are considered online for 3 days after refreshing any Fish Wrangler page. This matters when dealing with Crew Fishing Trips - because you must be 'online' to be brought along fishing.
NOTE: Your line will be checked multiple times throughout the day by a wacky deckhand if you stop in and click on any Fish Wrangler page after 12am PDT (-8 GMT).
Farovian Time (FVT) is the GMT-7 without daylight savings (technically in the USA this would be Mountain Time with no Daylight Savings).
This was officially changed on October 28th, 2009 from PDT. Before the time was GMT-8 with USA Daylight Savings, which caused problems for wranglers all around the world as we're an international game.
You can now find 'Reduced Waits' in treasure chests. They simply reduce your fishing wait time by however many minutes it says. Reduced waits are also similar to how Tarpits allow you to fish faster AND how some Mystery Tackle Boxes reduce your fishing wait time.
Rules: You will only find a Reduced Wait when you have a wait time to fish. Chests with a multiplier will never have a Reduced Wait. You must be located beyond Sans Culpra.
Special Bonuses last for limited amounts of time and are found in Treasure Chests. You have 24 hours to start one, and after that it starts itself - with one exception. The
Auto-Fish Bonus never starts itself, and it is gone if you have not started it within 24 hours. They can speed up fishing timers, or they can multiply gold you get from fish, or how fast you level a pole or boat. The Night Fishing + Timer + Deckhand Bonuses do not work when you have
Contest Catches enabled during an active
Contest. Here are the specific bonuses you can find:
The Deckhand, Pole Leveling, Night Fishing and Timer Bonuses are disabled for 30 days on new poles/addons... in order to keep racing fair for all players. Switch to an older pole to avoid this error.
The Night Fishing, Deckhand and Timer Bonuses are not allowed during
Contests, as it makes for an unfair advantage. However, you can
deactivate contest catches in your settings to re-activate the Deckhand Bonus during a contest. Travel Bonuses will not work to newly released locations for 1 week, as it'd create an unfair advantage.
NEW: Epic Bonuses can be used anywhere and are handed out when you're located in a new town, completely at random - bonuses with restrictions are not random and can be unfairly found.
Oct 26 2022 UPDATE: Lowered restriction from 30 days to 7 days after a pole/town is released for some Special Bonuses.
Auto-Fish takes you fishing on its own every time your timer is up, for as long as the bonus lasts. How long that is depends on where you found it - a Mystery Tackle Crate, a Mystery Tackle Box, an Auto Voucher, a Stealth quest reward and a Winter Feast all hand out different lengths, and the bonus itself tells you which you have.
It is the one Special Bonus that will not start itself. Every other bonus starts on its own 24 hours after you find it. Auto-Fish sits there waiting for you, and if you have not started it within those 24 hours it expires and is gone - you'll get a notice saying so. Start it when you know you'll be away from the boat, not when you find it.
Starting a second Auto-Fish while one is already running does not waste it - the time is added onto the one you have going.
It's basically a way to be more lenient with clicking the Fish NOW button. You don't have to click it right when your 15 minutes is up. As long as you click it within 29 minutes of being able to Fish NOW, you'll be credited back the time. The grace period works up to 29.5 minutes.
EXAMPLE: You're waiting for the 15 minute fishing timer to change to Fish NOW, but you forget and come back in 20 minutes... It will only add 10 minutes to your wait timer, since you already waited 5 minutes extra on that first attempt.
You will automatically open a Mystery Tackle Crate after doing 6 FISH NOW fishing trips or 6 SKIP's. UPDATE: You can now pick whenever you want to open it, just click the Mystery Crate link on the
main page, and click the Open NOW button. It's a daily reward for doing various daily tasks. Similar rewards to the 1st and last MTB that you open each day.. but different daily actions effect your luck of getting a better reward, such as: Tournament Casts, collecting crates for consecutive days, making quest catches, taking crew fishing, night fishing previous day, opening MTB's, entering the raffle and visiting the forum.. along with a couple secret luck multipliers that I'll let you guys figure out once coded in. All of the daily actions have diminishing returns on luck.
Types of Fishing Trips
You can fish every fifteen minutes. Check back throughout the day, or wait for the timer to change to
“Fish NOW!”
NOTE: Friends will take you fishing every 30 minutes. So be sure to
invite your friends to go on more fishing trips.
A Crew Fishing Trip is when one of your crew members takes you along on their fishing trip. You do not need to be located at the same island in order for crew trips to occur.
You are allowed to be taken along by a friend every 30 minutes for up to three days. Make sure you have plenty of chum stocked up! They do not need to do anything special to bring you along, if you simply haven't gone on a Crew Fishing Trip in over 30 minutes when they click the 'Go Fishing' link, then you'll automagically be brought along!
You can lead a crew trip every time you fish and earn bonus points (25 points per crew member, up to 12 crew members). If a crew mate is eligible for a crew trip, you will automatically take them with you when you go fishing.
Deckhand Fishing Trips are the same thing as Crew Fishing Trips.
However, Deckhand Fishing Trips are for users who haven't invited any friends.
We want all of our features to be usable and fun for everyone!
If you don't have any crew members, don't worry! The deckhands will stop by and check your line in place of friends.
All you have to do is stop in and click on any Fish Wrangler page to have your line checked multiple times that day.
A Captain Trip is a particular type of fishing trip. When you invite a friend to Fish Wrangler, they become your apprentice.
You take the apprentice on a Captain Trip when they log into Fish Wrangler each day.
Both players go on the trip where Captain is located, regardless of the Apprentice's location. The players split the point profit and the Captain keeps the gold reward. Only the Captain receives the credit for catching the fish, as the apprentice is only there to learn.
Captain Trips do not count towards pole leveling and they do NOT use chum.
There isn't an exact Captain Trip limit for Captains... however it's controlled in a simple way so balance isn't thrown off in the game and some players are given hundreds of extra trips each day. Here are the details...
1) You can only take each apprentice (friend) on one Captain Trip a day. You leave for the Captain Trip when the apprentice (friend) first logs into Fish Wrangler.
2) After each Captain Trip, you're told how many you've been on in that day. For example, 'Took Joe on my 2nd Captain Trip today...'
3) The apprentice always receives 50% of the points and 0% of the gold - because each apprentice only has 1 Captain.
4) The Captain receives 50% of the gold/points from their first 2 Captain Trips of the day, and 25% for the 3rd-10th Captain Trips, and 10% thereafter. It's setup this way so there's a good benefit for having 2 apprentices, and still a good benefit for having more than 2 apprentices.
Example of Captain Trip point/gold limit:
2nd Captain Trip of day: (Caught a rare 1,000pt/gold Ninja Fish)
Took Joe on my 2nd Captain Trip of the day... I caught a 3 oz Ninja Fish - earned 500 points & 500 gold for showing my apprentice something new and my apprentice earned 500 points!
3rd Captain Trip of day: (Caught a rare 1,000pt/gold Ninja Fish )
Took Ismeralda on my 3rd Captain Trip of the day... I caught a 3 oz Ninja Fish - earned 250 points & 250 gold for showing my apprentice something new and my apprentice earned 500 points!
6th Captain Trip of day: (Caught a rare 1,000pt/gold Ninja Fish)
Took Diego on my 6th Captain Trip of the day... I caught a 3 oz Ninja Fish - earned 250 points & 250 gold for showing my apprentice something new and my apprentice earned 500 points!
Captain Trips reset for the day, every night at 3am PDT - not 12am. This is because many things are processed at 12am PDT, and you're still getting the same amount of trips/day.
A Slacker Captain Trip is when an Apprentice takes out their Captain on a so-called Captain Trip because they have more points than their Captain.
A Slacker Captain Trip happens daily, when the Apprentice logs into Fish Wrangler for the first time. The only requirement is that your Slackin' Captain has been seen within the last 2 days.
Your “net gold” is most likely off (or even negative) because you purchased something with gold.
Net gold is calculated by getting the difference of how much gold you ended up with by how much gold you started with.
Captain Trips with Cap'n Jozek allow users who weren't invited by anyone, and who haven't invited anyone, to still use the Captain Trip feature.
You'll receive a pop up window saying you earned extra points with Cap'n Jozek for stopping in today. Which means, Cap'n Jozek takes the place of a friend (Captain.)
We want all of our features to be fun and usable for everyone!
The same idea covers the other side of the boat. If nobody has accepted your invite yet, the crew assigns you a Deckhand as your apprentice, so the
Captain Trip still happens and you still get paid for it. Invite a real friend and they take the Deckhand's place - a friend is worth more, because their trips keep coming as long as they keep playing.
The 'Skip' button next to the 'Fish Now' button allows each user to fish six times in a row. It is targeted for users who do not have much time to spend on the app (less than 15 minutes a day). You may utilize these skip casts at any point during the day except within one hour prior to night fishing. Your night fishing trip will be cancelled if you do so. Please note that you will not take friends along during these types of casts.

The Red Shark resource will give you 16 extra SKIPS per day!
How do I turn on Red Sharks? Use up your 6 regular SKIP's, and then click the red SKIP link.ff
How can I get Red Sharks? Buy them with Red Love Chum or receive a
free crate of them on every 10th referral!
When a new pole or addon is released, many wranglers rush to use it at the same time. To prevent server overload during the first hour of a new release, Red Shark SKIPs are limited to
one per 1 minute.
How long does it last? The throttle is only active for the first hour after a pole/addon is first purchased by any player.
Does this affect regular SKIPs? No, only Red Shark SKIPs are throttled. Your 6 free daily SKIPs work normally.
How do I know if it's active? Check the pole shop - you'll see a
TRAFFIC JAM indicator showing the remaining time.
You maybe have accidentally disabled your SKIPS. Go to your
Setting page and reactivate SKIPS/turbo fishing.
SKIPS reset between 1:00-2:00am FVT. You can only use your six SKIPS once a day.
Knots stands for Nautical Miles per Hour, the speed boats travel.
30 knots = 35 mph (miles per hour)
30 knots = 56 kmph (kilometers per hour)
All donations receive a 5x boat speed boost. If the voyage to Blue Crescent is 30 minutes, the 5x speed boost will have it only take 6 minutes. The more you donate, the longer the Recent Donation Speed Boost lasts!
NEW: You will also get a 50% off Ancient Mariner instant traveling! (ie If instant travel costs 10 FLC to instantly arrive at destination, it will only cost you 5 FLC)
Donating again while a boost is running: a new donation sets your boost to that tier's full length starting from the day you donate. It does not add your leftover days on top, and it will never cut a longer boost short. So your remaining days are worth the most if you donate when your current boost is nearly out.
The final level of the Ten Year Storm region is called the “Eye of the Storm” - it's the center of this enormous storm that has been raging for many years. The more you fish here, the further away from the Eye you go. You want to stay within the Eye because it's the safest and calmest area of the storm.
TIP: In order to stay within the Eye, you must travel back to Stormy Straights to read the current weather radar to see where the Eye is... and then voyage back to the Eye. The reading of the radar is done automatically upon arrival.
You can also get the Personal Weather Radar from Mousso eventually. It allows you to see the weather forecast in real time and instantly re-position your boat back into the Eye.
Your Trips per Day count, visible on the right side of your profile page, counts fishing trips you do. It does not include deckhand checks or tournament casts. It does count crew trips.
For the impatient voyagers, you can pay the Ancient Mariner to whisk you away to your final destination. Just start voyaging, and you'll see a little option under your travel time, saying “Pay Ancient Mariner to arrive instantly?”.
Just click that link, confirm the Love Chum payment, and you'll arrive instantly.
Works on shuttling trips too.
If you donated in last 30 days, you will receive a 50% discount on the Ancient Mariner's fee.
Open-Sea Fish are not caught by casting - they are caught by dragging a Trolling Net behind your boat while you voyage between locations. You do not do anything while it happens. A deckhand checks the net for you, and about a minute after you arrive you get a notice saying whether anything was in it.
Getting a net. Earl sells the
Trolling Net for 10,000 gold. You can only own one at a time. It slows your boat down by about 10%, so you can put it away from the resource page whenever you would rather travel fast.
Fishing with it. Just voyage. Every trip rolls for the Open-Sea Fish that lives in the region you are travelling through - so the fish you can hook depends on where you are, and the longer the voyage, the better your odds, by up to ten times. Short hops between neighboring towns are close to hopeless.
What you get. An Open-Sea Catch is a real catch. It pays points and gold, it counts on your fish totals, and it can be your first ever of that fish. The catch also destroys the net - they are one-use, and you buy the next one from Earl.
If the notice says
OPEN-SEA MISS!, the fish was in your net and got out. That is not a bug, and it means you were close.
You are told about these by push notification or email if you have the
Catches alert turned on in your
settings. That is worth having on, because the whole point of a Trolling Net is that it works while you are not looking.
Poles & Leveling
Pole leveling is an indicator of your experience. Some poles take longer to level up than others. You can view how much 'experience' per level is required on the Fishing Pole page. If you want to level quickly, we suggest to go Night Fishing as it offers the best return!

Example #1: The Oak Branch needs 15 experience per level, so it would take ~8 catches OR ~4 with Love Chum per each pole level.
Example #2: The Sonar Pulverizer needs 52 experience per level, so it would take ~26 catches OR ~13 with Love Chum per each pole level.
Your boat will level up when you travel a distance that is 5 minutes or more away. The more you level up, the faster you'll go!
Each pole differs in attributes. Here are descriptions of each attribute.
Attributes:
Strength: Comes from your active pole - Increases the chance of catching larger fish
Catch Bonus: Comes from your active chum and your poles level - Improves overall chance of catching a fish
Total Skill: Comes from all of your learned skills and your poles level - Improves the overall attraction of fish
Chum Loss: Comes from chum - Cheap chums do not last as long, or work as well
Luck: Comes from Love Chums only - increases chances of catching rare fish
Another new benefit of Red Love Chum is that it now gives a +2 bonus to your pole's level. So novice players can catch elusive fish earlier.
For example, your Sonar Pole may be a level 10, but with using RLC, your pole will allow you to catch particular fish at a level 12.
Also, RLC now levels your pole twice as fast. See the 'What is Pole Leveling?' FAQ above.
Fishing poles and boats can be damaged. When this happens, you must visit the Repair Shop to pay for the damage.
A user may not have enough gold to pay for the damaged equipment. When this occurs, you must take the free shuttle to Waterport. You must fish at this island until you earn enough gold to pay for your damaged equipment. When you are ready to return to the island and fix your equipment, click the Map/Island page which will show a link to take the shuttle back.
You can now level all Farovian fishing poles up to Level 80 by purchasing special augments. You will need to complete certain quests to unlock the augments, and then purchase the augments once your pole reaches a Level 50/50.
You gain Stealth by fishing in secret areas with equipment modified by Earl. It works just like Pole Leveling, but has requirement of fishing in secret areas when your pole is modified by Earl. Fish in secret areas require certain Stealth Levels. It currently maxes out at 25. Each pole requires different amounts of XP per Stealth Level.
Pole Leveling special bonuses also boost Stealth Leveling.
Stealth is a special attribute added in with the Secret Level release in 2021, to unlock Secret Levels - simply visit
Earl's House in WaterPort.
Quests
Earl's wife, BetsyLou, needs help in preparing dishes for her restaurant, Sand Bar & Gill, located in Waterport. Each fishing pole has an assortment of signature dishes that require particular fresh fish from the local waters.
Compete in a quest either individually or with a friend. After catching all the dish requirements, wranglers must visit BetsyLou at the
Sand Bar & Gill.
How Quests Work:-
Quests can be completed individually or with a friend. Only one quest can be activated at a time. Completion of preceding quests will unlock additional quests.

Each quest requires a particular pole, so you must fish with this pole in order to have the fish count towards the dish.

You can catch required quest fish via crew trips, deckhand trips and individual trips. Please note that captain trips, tournament trips and night fishing does NOT count towards quests. NOTE: Night fishing catches do not count because the current night fishing system has various technical limitations as it calculates/saves thousands of fish catches per second.

There are no time restrictions. Quests are timed for leaderboard purposes only. The clock begins when the quest starts, and ends when the dish is dropped off at BetsyLou's 'Sand Bar & Gill' in Waterport.

You can compete in the same quest multiple times.

If you invite a friend to a quest, the invitation remains active for 24 hours. You will be unable to invite another friend to your quest until the invitation expires or your friend rejects the invite.

If competing with a friend, dish requirements will be multiplied by 1.5 (rounded down).
How Do I Quit/Leave A Quest?
After creating a quest, the quest leader (Player 1) must wait two hours before deleting the quest. The invited user (Player 2) can leave the quest at any point; however, this action will remove any fish contributions Player 2 accumulated towards the quest. Player 1 must complete the quest individually, and the dish requirements will be reduced (from 1.5x to 1.0x).
Finishing A Quest/Leaderboards
After catching all the fish requirements, you must visit the Sand Bar & Gill by traveling to Waterport. BetsyLou will reward each wrangler with the dish. You will receive a special Trophy Dish after completing the entire quest set. Please note that after completing most quests you will unlock an augment for a pole, you cannot buy the augment until your pole reaches a level 50.
Betsy Lou and Ruby Mae wanted to see how talented wranglers really were, as they kept handing in Quest Sets! So the two ladies formulated new enormous platters that they've titled “Super Bonus Quests” - BEWARE: NOT for Aspiring Wranglers! In order to start a Super Bonus Quest, you'll need to hand over some resources to the ladies. You will not be refunded the resources back, if you start/quit a Super Bonus Quest.
Super Bonus Quests unlock after completing all of the Quest Sets in a specific town. Ruby Mae is still working out the recipes for her Roperian Super Bonus Quests. Good luck!
You can only purchase augments once your pole reaches a Level 50.
Each quest has a pole level requirement. You will not be able to start the quest unless you meet this requirement.

Upon first completion of Final Quests the Ancient Mariner rewards 2 Liquid Gold, and only 1 Liquid Gold for each successive completion.

Upon first completion of Difficult Quests the Ancient Mariner rewards 1 Liquid Gold, and NO Liquid Gold for each successive completion.
Night Fishing
If you go to your Night Fishing Page and scroll all the way to the bottom, you will see your Party Settings.
If this still does not let you change from 5 to 8 people, you need to activate your Beat Up Dingy (by turning the ON button) and then reactive your Mini Cruiser.
The
Night Fishing Gold Multiplier is a reward based on how many consecutive days
everyone at least ~65% of your crew shows up for Night Fishing. It's calculated by simply multiplying your entire gold profit by the 'Gold Multiplier'.

UPDATED: May 17th: As long as ~65% of your crew shows up, you'll still get the gold multiplier! The following boat capacities count: 2 of 3; 3 of 4; 3 of 5, 4 of 5; and 5 of 8, 6 of 8, 7 of 8!
We've received a photo from from the Farovian Oceanography Institute that various invasive species will be migrating to each Farovian location. We do not have an exact estimate, but we believe the migration shall occur in mid-May 2010. More updates to the FAQ coming soon!
Due to our thorough investigative analysts and interns, we believe catching these extremely large mythical beasts will be determined by a number of key factors:
1) A high consecutive day count
2) The parties average pole level
3) Rum and glow worm usage

Red Love Chum comes with many benefits!
• You will catch a fish ~95% of the time. Plus it's only used when you catch a fish, unlike the other chums which float away and get stolen.
• You will level your poles
2 times faster than non-RLC users.
• You will not see advertisements on Fish Wrangler for 30 days after a donation.
• Travel between islands 5x's faster with purchases of $10 and over.
• Extra
deckhand checks! (Generally at least one every ~1.5 hours.)
• You receive a
bonus of +2 levels on your pole at all times. This allows you to catch fish at higher pole level requirements.
• You have a greater chance at catching the 4 rarest fish in the game (dependent upon the population of the fish and the specific area).
• You will have greater chances of catching quest fish (see
RLC Boost).
• You have a greater chance at finding RLC in treasure chests.
Definitions / Miscellaneous
You can find special resources while you're fishing or in treasure chests. Different resources can help you in different ways (ie. Old Jug of Rum or Glow worms can only be used for Night Fishing). Resources with limited number of uses need to be activated/deactivated (ON/OFF buttons). You may find some other resources which are permanent and will help you later in the game.
Skills are courses on different subject matters that improve your fishing abilities.
Skills are cumulative (they are all added together and change your stats) -
so the more Skills you acquire the better your overall catching ability becomes.
Please note that each island has its own Supply Store, so you may need to travel to different island to acquire particular skills.
Tariffs apply when you give gold to a friend who has more total points than you. Your gold will be taxed at 25 percent.
EXAMPLE: You have 500 points and your friend has 1000 points. You are sending your friend 100 pieces of gold. After the 25% tax, your friend will receive 75 pieces of gold.
Chum has always had an attraction rating, however it hasn't been displayed until now because of the recent confusion.
Many people became frustrated that chum prices and chum loss %'s changed -
without understanding that for example, Cayenne Chum (9% Attraction Rating) catches 4% more fish than Steak Chum (which has a 5% Attraction Rating).
We feel that users will have to rethink old strategies with this new information becoming public.
For Example: A 9% Attraction Rating means you'll increase your chances of making any catch by 9%, and lowering your chances of not catching anything by 9%.

Red Love Chum has always provided an increase in catching rare fish of about ~2x. Luck is just the attribute we associate this factor to, as you should consider yourself lucky after catching a rare fish! :)

The Great Roperian Garbage Patch fish and polluters need to be rehabilitated in different ways after catching or nabbing them! This process happens automatically, once the countdown is complete you can see the healthy version of the fish or the full version of the polluter - via a slide bar over the image. -Bipasha
Relics (flags, achievements, etc.) from
Earl's Pearls n' Relics only display on
max level poles. If your pole isn't at max level yet, the relic won't appear on your setup. Keep leveling your pole and your equipped relics will show once you reach max level!
When a wrangler passes away, and their family or their own crew asks us for it, we mark
their name with a candle. Everything of theirs stays exactly where it is - every catch,
every record, every post on the forum. Nothing is taken down.
You light the candle by taking them fishing. There is no separate button. Bring them
along on a crew trip the way you always did, and their candle fills back up - it holds
about a month of wax and burns down slowly if nobody comes by, so the candle is really just
answering one question: has anyone been out with them lately. It is not a score and it does
not rank anybody.
Only wranglers who already had them on their crew can do this, because that is how crews
have always worked. It also means a burning candle always belongs to somebody who genuinely
fished with them.
Their trip is a real trip - they still catch, and you still get the same crew luck you get
from anyone. The one thing that no longer moves is their lifetime trip count. That number is
the tally of the trips
they took, so it was sealed the day their memorial opened.

Medievalton, Roperia first introduced the magic of chum combinations where you use 2 chums at once! To use a secondary chum, simply equip another chum in an area that supports it. Your previously equipped chum then becomes the secondary. Fish in these areas are attracted only to specific chum combinations. Red Love Chum and Free Love Chum act as wild cards, matching any required chum. For instance, to attract the
Jellydin, you need a combo of
Warrior and
Wizard Chum. With Love Chum and either
Warrior or
Wizard Chum, you'll successfully attract
Jellydin. Just be sure Love Chum is in your primary chum position, so you take full advantage of leveling and attracation. Otherwise pole leveling will not be doubled as the primary chum slot is most magical.
Once your pole is within 2 levels of a chum combo fish, you'll see your analysis under the fish 'Combo:' section. So remember to switch up combos to test out different attractions!
The combination does not have to be in exact order. For example, Warrior+Wizard and Wizard+Warrior will work to catch the Jellydin.
Boss fish are special high-stakes catches that require unique fishing mechanics to defeat. When you encounter a boss fish, you'll need to carefully balance your line strength using a special meter system.
Boss Fish Mechanics:
• When you hook a boss fish, you'll see the message "OH MY, THE [BOSS NAME] BOSS!?"
• A special line strength meter appears that you must balance to catch the fish
• Click and hold to reel in, release to let the line go slack
• The green zone in the middle of the meter is your target - stay there to tire out the boss
• If you pull too hard (red zone) the line will snap
• If you're too gentle (red zone) the boss will escape

• Watch the meter carefully and respond to the boss's movements
• Each boss may have slightly different patterns and timing
• Make sure you have the required pole and addons before attempting a boss fight
• Some boss fights may require specific resources or conditions to trigger
A Jump Number is a progression system used in special areas like
Asteroid Belt and
Aquaria. In these areas, you'll see multiple location options to travel to, and catching
boss fish allows you to advance to new locations.

Understanding TBD Requirements:
When looking at fish in locations you haven't unlocked yet, you'll see their pole level requirement listed as 'TBD' (To Be Determined). This is because the actual requirement depends on the Jump Number of that location.
Calculating Requirements:

Base Pole Level
For example: If a location is
Jump Number 5 and a
fish has base requirement of 2:
• Required Pole Level =
(5 × 10) +
2 = 52
How to Progress:
- Each location in a Jump Number area has a boss fish
- You must catch the boss fish to complete a location
- Catching the boss fish unlocks the ability to jump to a new location
Tips for Success:
• When starting a new Jump Number region, choose your first location carefully - each path may have different difficulty progression
• Focus on catching the
boss fish to unlock access to new locations
• Plan your pole upgrades based on the Jump Numbers of locations you want to access
• Remember: If you see 'TBD' as a fish's requirement, you need to unlock access to that location first
Favorites let you pick up to 5 of your own caught fish to show off on your
profile page - a little trophy shelf for whichever catches you're proudest of. Any fish you've caught counts - mythicals, bosses, one-offs, the lot.
How to Favorite a Fish:
• Visit the fish's own page (you just have to have caught it)
• Click the ★ star in the top-right corner of its picture
• Click it again any time to remove it
If you're full (5/5):
• You'll see your current 5 right there with a quick way to remove one
• Free up a slot, then hit the star again on the fish you wanted
Your favorites are visible on your profile to anyone who looks you up - crew, friends, or a stranger checking your stats.

Yes, and it helps us a lot. Both stores let you opt in to the build we are about to release, so problems get caught before they reach everybody. It is free, it replaces your normal app, and you can leave whenever you want.
iPhone and iPad - TestFlight
• Install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store first.
• Then open
https://testflight.apple.com/join/NDxNPdvJ on the phone itself and press Accept.
• Room for 200 testers. To stop, delete the app and reinstall the normal one from the App Store.
Android - open testing
• Open
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.fishwranglr.app while signed in to the Google account you use on your phone, and press Become a tester.
• Then install or update Fish Wrangler from Google Play as normal - it will hand you the test build.
• To stop, come back to that same page and press Leave the program.
Test builds can and do break. That is the point. When something goes wrong, post it in
Mobile App Bugs / Feedback and say which phone you have and which version number the app shows. Valid bug reports earn RLC.
